Muir Beach

A bit of a windy drive down to the beach, and sadly inaccessible by public transport. Ubers are also virtually impossible to call, so only go with a guaranteed ride. Despite this, it is a classic NorCal beach that allows bonfires. In the summertime, a lot of families go with a whole classic beach setup: sand toys, bbq food, frisbees, and soccer balls. On colder days people may plunge into the water, but all we did was explore and have a bonfire.

After entering the beach, you can walk down to the right to get to a secret second beach.

You may need to do some traversing—don’t be scared to get your feet wet!

The rock climbing was one of my favorite parts. We had someone watch over all of our bonfire stuff, and people on the beach were really lively and kind. There was a massive group of college students playing volleyball, a young kids birthday party, and a lot of dogs.

We sat down and started our bonfire. There were only a couple of pits available on the beach, and we got lucky and grabbed one right as a couple was leaving.

We made hotdogs! A nice man also came up to us with a tray of corn that he had cooked earlier and offered us some. It was very yummy. We left as the beach got dark. Unfortunately we couldn’t see the sunset that well as it was very foggy, but it was still a beautiful day in general.
