Old Mill Creek Walk – Mill Valley

Bring some rain boots or water shoes! For 95% of the creek the water is ankle/shin length, and at maximum it is about 2 feet tall in some places.

Directions: Go to the Old Mill Park in Mill Valley, CA. Find the creek, and walk upstream.

My favorite view of the entire walk was when we saw this house along the creek. It looked like something out of a fairytale. We stopped for a bit and just admired the house. There was ivy wrapped around the windows and the sides of the house.

There was almost no wind when we walked. This made the water super still, so every footstep left ripples.

Since we went on a sunny day, all of the sun

Pick a sunny day and the green illuminates your entire surroundings. My favorite color is the light neon green that occurs when light shines through leaves. There were a few bugs and the birds were chirping too—made for a louder ambiance than expected.

Feel free to enjoy some blackberries along the way!

One word to describe this experience would be refreshing. It is a unique adventure—creek walks are not typically how one hikes. I recommend this to anyone! You can choose how long you want to walk, and how deep you want to go. For a bit we played some music, but then we decided that the natural sounds were just way more soothing and beautiful. The movement of the water, the crunching of the branches and leaves, the sliding of the rocks, and the natural wildlife made for a nice symphony.
